The edelkrone SDK Challenge (the "Challenge") is run by edelkrone USA Inc., 7901 4th St N, Suite 17899, St. Petersburg, FL 33702, USA ("edelkrone", "we"). These Official Rules (the "Rules") explain who can enter, how to enter, how winners are chosen and what you agree to when you enter. By submitting an entry, you agree to these Rules.
The short version
- Build an app with the edelkrone SDK, record a demo video of it working with real edelkrone gear, and post that video publicly on Instagram.
- Submit your app through edelkrone MCP, with the link to your Instagram post, between October 12 and November 30, 2026.
- Without the Instagram link, your app can still be listed in the Showroom as a normal submission, but it is not a Challenge entry.
- Judges pick the winners on skill, using the criteria in Section 8. Chance plays no part.
- Prizes are paid as edelkrone store credit, up to $50,000 in total. If a category gets too few entries that meet our quality bar, we may not award its prize.
- You keep ownership of your app and your video. You give edelkrone an unlimited, permanent right to use your demo video in its marketing and advertising.
1. Key dates
- Entries open: October 12, 2026, 12:00 am US Eastern Time.
- Entries close: November 30, 2026, 11:59 pm US Eastern Time (the "Entry Period").
- Judging: December 2026.
- Winners announced: expected in late December 2026.
edelkrone's server clock is the official clock for the Challenge. Entries received after the Entry Period ends are not eligible.
2. Who can enter
You can enter if, when you submit:
- you are at least 18 years old and have reached the age of majority where you live;
- you have an edelkrone.com account; and
- you are not excluded below.
You may enter alone or as a team. A team names one member as its representative. The representative submits the entry, must meet all of the requirements above, receives any prize on the team's behalf and is responsible for sharing it within the team. A company or organization may enter through one authorized representative on the same terms.
Who cannot enter: employees and contractors of edelkrone and its affiliated companies, the judges, and the members of their immediate families and households; residents of Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine; anyone on a U.S. government sanctions list; and residents of any country or region where this Challenge is prohibited, would require registration or bonding, or where edelkrone cannot ship products. The Challenge is void where prohibited.
3. How to enter
Submit your app through edelkrone MCP from your AI assistant (for example Claude or ChatGPT) during the Entry Period. A complete entry includes:
- your acceptance of these Rules;
- the app's name, the one category you are entering (Section 6) and a description of the use case;
- where the app is hosted, and how to download it if needed;
- installation requirements and instructions;
- whether the app is paid or free; and
- the link to your demo video, published as a public Instagram post (Section 4).
You may update your submission, including adding the Instagram link, until the Entry Period ends. The version on file when the Entry Period ends is the one that is judged.
One app, one entry. Each app can be entered once, in one category. You may enter several different apps; each is judged on its own. Apps that are substantially the same, or the same app under a different name, count as one entry.
Submissions without an Instagram link. If your submission does not include a valid Instagram link by the end of the Entry Period, it is not a Challenge entry. It is reviewed as a normal Showroom submission under the edelkrone Software Store Listing Agreement and is not eligible for any prize.
4. The demo video
Your demo video is how the judges and the edelkrone community see your idea. It must:
- be published as a post on your own Instagram account, during the Entry Period;
- be public, and stay public and available at least until the winners are announced;
- show your app working with at least one real edelkrone device, without simulated or faked device motion;
- tag @edelkrone and include the hashtag #edelkroneSDKChallenge in the caption;
- use only music you have the right to use in advertising: your own music, royalty-free music cleared for commercial use, or no music. Music from Instagram's built-in library is licensed for use on Instagram only and cannot be used in ads, so edelkrone may remove or replace the audio of your video;
- include identifiable people only with their permission, including their permission for the uses in Section 10; and
- contain nothing illegal, harmful, defamatory, hateful or sexually explicit, and nothing that infringes anyone's rights.
If your post is removed, made private or changed so that it no longer meets these requirements before the winners are announced, your entry may be disqualified.
5. Requirements for your app
- It must work. The app must do what your submission and video show. Judges may install and test it, and may ask you for access, a test build or a short call. An entry the judges cannot verify is not eligible.
- It must be your own work. You may use open-source software and third-party services within their licenses, and AI assistants to write code. You must have the right to submit everything in your entry.
- It must control a genuine edelkrone device. The app must use the edelkrone SDK to control at least one genuine edelkrone device. It may also work with other products and services, such as lights, controllers, sensors or software, but not with hardware that imitates or replaces edelkrone devices. It must stay within the safety limits of the SDK and device firmware and let the user stop motion at any time.
- It must be safe. Build and test with the motion path clear of people and objects. You build, test and film at your own risk.
- It must not be built for excluded uses: weapons, military or other defense-industry applications; applications that diagnose, treat or monitor a person's health; applications that identify, follow or record people without their knowledge and consent; and anything illegal.
- An app that existed before the Challenge may be entered if it was built with the edelkrone SDK and is submitted in line with these Rules.
6. Categories
Each entry is entered in one category:
- Smart Home & Everyday Life
- Studio Automation
- Software Integrations
- Voice & Audio Control
- Autonomous Navigation
- Vision & Image Processing
- Multi-Device Sync
- Product & E-commerce Photography
- Live Streaming & Content Creation
- Science & Education
- Entertainment, Gaming & Toys
- Open / Wildcard
The judges may move an entry to a category that fits it better.
7. Prizes
The prize pool is up to $50,000 in edelkrone store credit:
- Grand Champion: one prize of $10,000 in store credit.
- Runner-up: one prize of $6,000 in store credit.
- Third place: one prize of $4,000 in store credit.
- Category winners: up to twelve prizes of $2,000 in store credit, one per category.
- edelkrone Selection (honorable mentions): up to twelve prizes of $500 in store credit.
One prize per entrant. Each person or team can win only one prize, the highest one they are selected for. If a Grand Champion, Runner-up or Third place entry also leads its category, the category prize goes to the next best qualifying entry in that category.
We may not award every prize. The judges award a prize only to an entry that meets edelkrone's quality bar. edelkrone may decide not to award a category prize, or any other prize, if a category receives too few eligible entries or none of them meets that bar. Prize amounts that are not awarded may be added to the edelkrone Selection, given as additional prizes, or not awarded, at edelkrone's discretion.
About store credit. Store credit is added to the winner's edelkrone.com account and can be used toward any purchase on edelkrone.com. It has no cash value, cannot be exchanged for cash, cannot be transferred or sold, and must be used within 24 months from the date it is added. Unused credit then expires. The approximate retail value of each prize equals its face value.
Lifetime VIP Insider. Every Challenge entry that edelkrone accepts, whether or not it wins, earns Lifetime VIP Insider status: free standard shipping on orders from edelkrone.com and VIP pricing, for the lifetime of the entrant's edelkrone.com account. The status is personal, is for purchases for the entrant's own use and not for resale, and may be withdrawn if it is misused.
Taxes. Winners are responsible for any taxes on their prize. Before awarding a prize, edelkrone may ask for tax forms (for example IRS Form W-9 or W-8BEN) and may report or withhold as the law requires. No substitution or transfer of prizes is allowed, except that edelkrone may substitute a prize of equal or greater value.
8. Judging
Entries are judged by a panel chosen by edelkrone, made up of edelkrone staff and, where edelkrone chooses, outside experts. Judging has three steps:
- Screening. Each entry is checked for eligibility and against Sections 3, 4 and 5.
- Category judging. Eligible entries are scored within their category.
- Overall judging. The Grand Champion, Runner-up and Third place are chosen from all eligible entries, across categories.
Every entry is scored on:
- Creativity and originality (30%): how new and surprising the idea is;
- Usefulness (25%): how much real value it brings to people who use edelkrone gear, or to new kinds of users;
- Technical execution (25%): how well and how reliably it works;
- Demo and presentation (20%): how clearly and convincingly the demo video shows the app.
In a tie, the entry with the higher Creativity and originality score ranks higher. The judges' decisions are final.
9. Winners
edelkrone contacts potential winners at the email address of their edelkrone.com account. A potential winner must reply within 14 days and complete the requested verification, which may include confirming eligibility, providing tax forms and signing a declaration that they meet these Rules. A potential winner who does not reply in time, cannot be verified or does not meet these Rules forfeits the prize, and edelkrone may award it to the next qualifying entry.
Winners are announced on connect.edelkrone.com and on edelkrone's channels. For the list of winners, contact edelkrone within six months after the announcement.
10. Your rights and the rights you give edelkrone
Your app. You keep ownership of your app. Entering the Challenge does not transfer any ownership to edelkrone. Accepted entries are listed in the edelkrone Showroom under the edelkrone Software Store Listing Agreement.
Your demo video. You keep ownership of your demo video as content published on your channels. By entering, you grant edelkrone an unlimited, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable and irrevocable license to use, reproduce, edit, modify, distribute, display, publicly perform and create derivative works from your demo video and your Instagram post, in whole or in part, for marketing, advertising, promotional and commercial purposes, in any medium now known or later developed. This includes paid advertising, partnership ads and use on edelkrone's websites, social media accounts, emails and product pages, and the right to remove or replace the audio and to add captions, graphics and edits.
This license includes the right to use your name, username, likeness, image and voice as they appear in the demo video, and to credit you by name or username. If edelkrone asks, you agree to approve an Instagram partnership-ad request for your demo post.
The license applies to every entry, whether or not it wins, and continues even if you later delete your post. You waive any claim to additional royalties or compensation for these uses, and, to the extent the law allows, any moral rights in the video. edelkrone is not required to use your video.
Publicity. edelkrone may publish the names, usernames, countries, app names, descriptions and demo videos of entrants and winners in connection with the Challenge, without further compensation, except where the law forbids it.
Your promises. You confirm that your entry is your own work, that you have all rights and permissions needed for the uses above, including from anyone who appears in your video and the owners of any music, and that your entry does not infringe anyone's rights.
11. Disqualification and changes
edelkrone may disqualify any entry or entrant that does not meet these Rules, that tampers with the entry process or judging, that uses fake accounts or bought engagement, or that acts in a way that harms the Challenge or other entrants. edelkrone may decline any entry at its discretion.
If fraud, technical failure or any other cause beyond edelkrone's control affects the fair running of the Challenge, edelkrone may modify, suspend or cancel it. edelkrone may also change these Rules by publishing an updated version. Changes will not reduce prizes already announced, except as Section 7 allows. If the Challenge is cancelled, edelkrone may award prizes among the eligible entries received before the cancellation.
12. Liability
To the extent the law allows:
- you release edelkrone, its affiliates and their officers, employees and judges from claims arising from your participation in the Challenge, the prizes, or the building, testing or filming of your entry, including injury and damage to property or devices;
- you agree to cover claims by third parties that arise from your entry, including claims that it infringes their rights;
- edelkrone is not responsible for late, lost, incomplete or misdirected submissions, or for failures of networks, AI assistants, Instagram or other services outside its control.
Nothing in these Rules limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
13. Instagram
The Challenge is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram or Meta. You release Instagram and Meta from any liability related to the Challenge. You provide your information to edelkrone, not to Instagram or Meta.
14. Your information
edelkrone uses the information in your submission and your edelkrone.com account to run the Challenge: to review and judge entries, contact and verify winners, award prizes and list accepted apps in the Showroom. It is handled as described in the edelkrone MCP Terms of Service and the edelkrone privacy policy.
15. Other agreements and governing law
The edelkrone MCP Terms of Service and the edelkrone Software Store Listing Agreement also apply to your entry. The edelkrone SDK itself is open source under the MIT License. If those agreements conflict with these Rules on a matter about the Challenge, these Rules apply.
These Rules are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about the Challenge is decided by the state or federal courts located in Florida. If a provision of these Rules is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
16. Questions
